I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat dairy, and had started to think I had to live my life sans ice cream since I can't seem to find any alternatives in stores here in Norway. But while on holiday we had made a reservation at a nice restaurant where I had given notice about my lactose intolerance. When we were seated our waiter leaned in and whispered that they had made ready a few different flavors of ice cream in case we wanted dessert so I shouldn't be discouraged by the lack of lactose free alternatives on the menu. I was so excited I almost wanted to order dessert first, and when I finally got the ice cream it was so good! Real ice cream, not sorbet, but creamy, chocolatey, delicious ice cream. Of course I have been talking about this dessert a lot, a little sad it's so far away, but a few weeks ago my boyfriend went and bought us an ice cream maker and has been making all sorts of delicious flavored ice cream. That's true love!
